Volunteer
We are always looking for a variety of volunteers to help in your community, do post disaster relief and/or help us manage EvacuationHelp.com during “crunch time”.
Volunteer In Your Own Community:
We are trying to build a nationwide network of volunteers, creating local “EvacHelp Teams” in your community. Team members should be active in their community and can easily locate residents who don’t have a computer, are not computer litterate, or don’t have any relatives to help them (this goes especially for the elderly). Requirements are that you are willing to spend an afternoon, perhaps once a month, with those that need help. Simply meet in a library (if you don’t have a notebook with wireless Internet access) and help them to setup free accounts, find EvacPaterners for them, and help them execute their EvacPlan before a disaster.
Volunteer for Post Disaster Relief Efforts:
We are also hoping to participate, with the support of our Volunteer network, in post disaster relief. Duties can range from organizational management and logistics, to going to the effected areas and serving food, or even helping clearing debris.
Volunteer at EvacuationHelp.com
Initially, you should be local or within a few hours of the Tampa Bay area in Florida for training purposes. Requirements are good verbal and written communication skills as Volunteers would help with tech support and answer FAQs posted to the system. Future plans include a telephone hotline that needs to be staffed before, during, and immediately after a disaster.
Please refer to our mailing lists and sign up on the appropriate list(s) if you are interested in volunteering some time to make a difference in your community.
